Pakistan 142 for 5 (Malik 58*, Ahsan 36, Shafiul 2-27) beat Bangladesh 141 for 5 (Naim 43, Tamim 39) by five wickets

It was neither pretty nor particularly engaging, but now isn’t the time for Pakistan to worry about that. They followed a disciplined bowling performance with a gritty chase spearheaded by the returning Shoaib Malik, after a second-ball duck for Babar Azam threatened to turn a straightforward task somewhat hairy. It sealed a five-wicket win for Pakistan, snapping a six-match losing streak in the format, and ensuring they hold on to their No. 1 T20I ranking for now.

Malik’s unbeaten 45-ball 58 was the only half-century of the game, coming at something of a canter after Bangladesh spread the field through the middle overs, happy to concede singles that weren’t really theirs to give away, given the modesty of the total they were defending. Debutant Ahsan Ali, and towards the close Iftikhar Ahmed, gave him useful company, but with the asking rate never really allowed to rise above eight, Pakistan weren’t in any imminent danger.

The bowlers were due thanks from the batsman for ensuring they never needed to get out of second gear. Shaheen Afridi began tightly, and Imad Wasim gave little away in the Powerplay after Bangladesh decided to bat on what looked, at the time, a belter of a surface. Though Tamim Iqbal and Mohammad Naim stuck around for 11 overs, the bowlers kept them on a leash throughout, and their opening partnership only produced 71 runs at 6.45 per over. Shadab Khan ensured the squeeze was maintained through the middle overs, and Bangladesh never got in a position to explode at the finish.

A strangely subdued innings

The caution Bangladesh displayed was surprising, particularly during the second half of the innings when it became clear wickets would no longer be a problem. While Pakistan’s tightness made it difficult to score quickly, there was no evidence Bangladesh were ready to show any more ambition than the odd boundary off the loose ball, and it was only when Haris Rauf’s final over went for 13 that the innings run rate exceeded seven an over.

For a team that preferred to deal in running between the wickets, there was a touch of tardiness there too. An ill-judged second run brought the first wicket when Tamim was found well short of his crease when Mohammad Rizwan whipped off the bails, and one of the few moments of genuine quality in an otherwise uninspiring game came when Shadab ran all the way to long-on off his own bowling, and followed up with a direct hit on the turn to catch Liton Das short of his ground.

Pakistan lose two in powerplay

Just because the target was low didn’t mean Pakistan were set for a canter. They played three T20Is against Sri Lanka on this ground three months ago, had to chase targets of 166, 183 and 148, and fell short each time. Twice, they ended up scoring less than the 142 they needed in this game. When Babar fell second ball, tickling one to the keeper to record his first duck in T20Is, Pakistan looked in for a grind.

Ahsan Ali appeared to possess the temperament that will please Misbah-ul-Haq, pouncing on any loose deliveries to relieve the pressure on Mohammad Hafeez at the other end. For his own part, Hafeez began brightly before closing his bat face a fraction early off a Mustafizur Rahman slower ball, sending a leading edge to cover point. At that point, Pakistan were 35 for 2 in five overs.

Bangladesh release the pressure

From that point, Mahmudullah may wonder if he allowed the game to drift. The fields were spread out and the bowling notably defensive, almost as if it were a plan to allow the batsmen to take as many singles as they pleased as long as the boundaries didn’t come. From the middle of the sixth over to the fifth ball of the 11th, when Ahsan holed out to long-off, Pakistan scored off 31 consecutive balls. Forty runs came off those 31 balls, and the asking rate dipped below seven with plenty of batting to follow.

Malik cashes in

For at least one of the two men recalled, this could be the beginning of yet another redemption story. Malik, who ended up walking away with the Player-of-the-Match award, milked the Bangladesh spinners, the visitors’ tactics playing right into his hands. With Ahsan gone, he quickly assumed charge, keeping on top of the asking rate without once needing to play a shot in anger. The only time he took a risk, he was dropped at long-off following a valiant effort on the boundary, and when the ball trickled away for four, he had brought up yet another half-century.

Bangladesh would continue to plug away, dismissing Iftikhar Ahmed and Imad Wasim, but Pakistan continued to coast, and the match went into its final over without a hint of tension in the air. With two required off four balls and Malik off strike, Rizwan went for a heave, edging the ball straight to deep midwicket. It was the simplest of chances, and could have put a few beads of sweat on Pakistani foreheads had it been taken. Mohammad Mithun, however, made a mess if it, and Pakistan cantered back for the winning second run. It was only fitting that an insipid, indifferent performance from Bangladesh was sealed by a moment of ineptitude, as Pakistan took the lead in lead in a series that will hopefully contain more entertainment than was on display on Friday, in front of a half-full Gaddafi Stadium.

نئی دہلی: بھارت میں پائلٹ نے طیارے میں فنی خرابی ہونے کے سبب ہائی وے پر ایمرجنسی لینڈنگ کردی۔

غیرملکی خبررساں ادارے کی رپورٹ کے مطابق بھارت میں سدارپور گاؤں کے ہائی وے پر پائلٹ نے طیارے کو اتار دیا، پولیس کا کہنا ہے کہ پائلٹ کے پاس طیارے کو ہائی وے پر لینڈنگ کرنے کے سوا کوئی چارہ نہیں تھا۔

رپورٹ کے مطابق نیشنل کیڈٹ کور (این سی سی) کا تربیتی طیارہ تھا، غازی آباد پولیس آفیسر کا کہنا تھا کہ سدارپور گاؤں میں ہائی وے پر کپتان نے ڈیڑھ بجے کے قریب ہنگامی لینڈنگ کی۔

پولیس کے مطابق دو سیٹر تربیتی ہوائی جہاز میں کچھ تکنیکی خرابی پیدا ہوئی تھی جس کے بعد ایسٹرن پیریفرل ایکسپریس وے پر ہنگامی لینڈنگ کرنا پڑی۔

میڈیا رپورٹ کے مطابق برطانیہ کی سابق وزیراعظم تھریسامے نے 2014 میں اُس وقت یہ حکم نامہ جاری کی تھا جب وہ وزیر داخلہ کی حیثیت سے امور انجام دے رہی تھیں۔

انہوں نے حکم نامے میں واضح طور پر بتایا تھا کہ قانون کا اطلاق 16 سال سے زیادہ عمر کے لوگوں پر ہوگا۔

قانون کے مطابق اگر کوئی شہری اپنے گھر میں زور زور سے رورہا یا گفتگو بھی کررہا ہے تو یہ بلدیاتی کونسل کے حکم نامے کی خلاف ورزی ہے۔

میڈیا رپورٹ کے مطابق برطانیہ میں پہلی بار دسمبر 2015 میں کاؤنسل کی جانب سے ہر گھر پر نوٹس بھیجے گئے تھے جس میں اس بات کو اجاگر کیا گیا تھا کہ وہ اپنے پڑوسیوں کا خیال رکھیں اور انہیں شکایت کا موقع نہ دیں۔

The Lahore police have issued a traffic plan for the Pakistan-Bangladesh T20 series that will come into effect from today (Wednesday) till January 27.

During a press conference held by Lahore’s CCPO Zulfiqar Hameed and other security officers, the police said 10,000 police personnel will be on duty during the matches.

The routes that the Bangladesh team will use to get from the airport to the hotel and hotel to Gaddafi Stadium have been sealed. Snipers will be deployed in the buildings surrounding the stadium. The police will also monitor the stadium and its surroundings via CCTV cameras.

Mounted police will also be stationed outside the stadium.

According to the plan, the SP City and Sadr divisions, CTO Gujranwala and CTO Faisalabad, 16 DSPs and 1600 traffic wardens, including 90 inspectors, will perform duties to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Apart from this, five breakdowns and 20 fork lifters will be deputed to clear the traffic. Five points have been designated for parking. Police will welcome cricket spectators and children in a traditional way by distributing flowers and candies among them.

Akif, a discovery of the NCA Remote Areas Programme has made his way to the Pakistan team set to take part in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup that will be played in Bangladesh later this month.
The 19-year-old Akif was born in Karak which is a remote town some 130 kilometres away from Peshawar. Cricket, like the rest of the country is the most popular sport here and youngsters are seen playing cricket on large fields and grounds across the area.
Akif, started playing like most of the boys in the area, his talent, skill, persistence and determination provided him rich rewards in the shape of his selection for the Remote Areas camp that was staged at the prestigious National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
Akif had some big challenges to overcome; he had to help his father as a shopkeeper in order to make ends meet for his family. Akif used to work at the shop yet pursued his dream of becoming a cricket star in his spare time.
As a kid and then as a teenager he played tape-ball cricket with his friends on the streets and grounds of Karak. His life changed last year when on the insistence of his friends, he started playing with the cricket ball.
Akif made a big impression in the recently concluded National T20 tournament in Faisalabad where he accounted for some big scalps; overall he took nine wickets in seven games including figures of three for 16 in one game for Balochistan. His side narrowly lost the tournament final to Northern.

was inspired by Shoaib Akhtar and started playing cricket as I wanted to emulate his feats. I entered the National T20 with the aim of becoming the fastest bowler in the world, I am happy with my performance in the event. My most memorable wicket of the tournament was Mohammad Hafeez’s.
“My mother informed me of my selection in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup squad; she like the rest of my family is very happy and is praying for my success. Among the present lot, Mohammad Amir is my favourite bowler; I want to swing the ball like he does at a good pace.”
Akif impressed the coaches at the NCA, while training under the Remote Areas Programme.
He gained speed, accuracy and learned the nuances of bowling at the highest level under the NCA coaches. Akif praised the coaching staff at the NCA for their contribution in his growth as a player as well as his improved fitness.

Akif on NCA coaches: The coaches at NCA worked really hard with me. I was taught about the basics of bowling and that helped me immensely in my performances in the National T20. I was also told about the importance of fitness and the training that I did at the academy has been of great benefit. The Remote Areas camp helped many youngsters like me and we might see many other stars emerge from these activities in the future.”

Akif has made rapid strides in a very short time, not long ago his family used to dislike his interest in cricket but his performances in the National T20 and his selection in the Pakistan team for the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup has changed their perception, he now has their backing and prayers as he begins the pursuit of what promises to be a hugely rewarding career.
